LET IT SNOW, SNOW SNOW...

I received a wonderful gift this morning. I came into our back family room and saw SNOW. Real snow - at least an inch all over. Ahhh, I am giddily drinking my coffee enjoying the sight of this ethereal crystalline blanket covering my world.

Can you tell I love snow? I say, a little snow and all is right with the world. There are some who inexplicably dislike snow, and this I cannot understand. How can you hate something so beautiful?

In addition, snow brings to mind all kinds of fun memories from when I was a kid. Rosy cheeked sledding splendor. Snowmen brought to life by our imaginations. Raucous snowball fights among friends. Warming up before the fireplace with hot chocolate with an all over tingly feeling as I thawed out. Ain't nothing like it - its one of the most glorious feelings in the world. Really.

Now, I know some Southerners who are just baffled by my almost spiritual, existential longing for snow. They just associate it with cold which they generally hate. But snow isn't about the cold, although that is a prerequisite for its appearing. It is about a fresh start, the beauty of creation, certain proof there is a God... Who else could have created such a beautiful thing that so satisfies the soul? So, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
